Over the last few days we’ve learnt how to relax our nervous system, rewire our dopamine cycle, and become more in tune with our feelings.

Next, we need to work on our beliefs. These are the invisible thoughts that determine what we believe ourselves capable of achieving.

If we do not change our beliefs, we will not be able to transform our lives.

Day 4: Limiting beliefs

📚 Reading

Ever wondered why smokers continue to smoke despite knowing it’s slowly killing them?

Or why we continue to pollute the earth despite entering a climate crisis?

Cognitive dissonance.

We don’t like to act one way and think another.

So we end up telling ourselves stories about our current situation to justify it.

Smokers will say that they know other smokers who have lived healthily into their 90s.

Politicians will say that economic growth is more important than climate targets.

And rather than quitting our jobs we’ll say: ‘I’m waiting for a promotion’, ‘my job isn’t so bad’ or ‘the world is too unstable right now’.

Unfortunately, many people need to hit rock bottom before they transform.

In that moment, the pain of remaining the same finally becomes higher than the pain of changing.

But we don’t have to wait until then…

The good news is that if you start acting differently, it will change your thinking.

Small successes can be extremely powerful in helping us to believe in ourselves.

That’s why this course is all about tangible steps you can take to change your life.
